10/27/10 Resident :  After last night's open DPWA meeting, Kim and I were speaking with both Mo and Jeff about the security concerns within our community. More specifically, the fact that the hours adjustment is taking longer than it has to and we appear to not even be getting what we, as a community, are paying for. As time went along, I pointed out to Jeff that a certain period of time had passed an that there was no sign of the roving security officer. After Jeff left, I continued to do the same while speaking with Mo and Kim. When Kim and I were done speaking with Mo, we walked up Robinson to the area across from the recycle center and continued to discuss community business. Both of us kept looking around and checking our watches, as neither of us had seen the guard since approximately 9:35pm, at the clubhouse. At around 11:10pm, he (roving security) turns onto Robinson from the direction of Kellogg. This person wasn't doing his job for over 90 minutes. Five minutes later, as I'm walking home, I see him PARKED, with the engine and lights off at the corner in front of the great lawn. Windows down, enjoying a quiet evening, apparently. This is totally unacceptable. I have made Jeff aware of this and await his call on what has been done to rectify this. This IS NOT an issue that can wait 3 weeks until the next meeting. I can't understand why I've been talking about the security issues in this community for years and everyone takes them so lightly. We want to PREVENT anything from happening. Not react to something that could have been prevented. If we aren't going to have a professional and courteous security presence in this community, then we need to stop paying for it. AGAIN, I have been more than patient in allowing the board to "investigate" this issue. This issue can be resolved in one day. People are talking about committees... What good is a committee if the board still doesn't act? More than 30 people at that Sept 21 meeting agreed with the issue posed regarding the hours and responsibilities of the security company we currently have under contract. We don't need a committee for everything we need don in this community. This is a QUICK FIX. If the board would like to meet with me, let's do it. I'm tired of excuses being made for everything that's not getting done. Content on the site is out of date, etc. But we're wondering why people don't know about the Oct meeting. Hopefully, the committee will be recognized by the board at the next open meeting and we can start helping out. Until then, show us something. This is an EASY ONE.

10/27/10 - Answer : I actually couldn’t agree with you more. Prior to the last board meeting, a reminder to call the security company and check to see if there would be an issue changing the guards hours was made and it was put on the agenda. As discussed in the meeting, there was not a problem with the guards starting and ending at different hours as long as they kept the same amount of contracted hours. There was a discussion regarding the problem of the dumpster being overloaded. It was originally set that the security rovers would push the button to empty the shoot as an added service to the community with no cost attached. I wrote in my notes from the last meeting the current times we have the rover and the possible times we would have if we started a few hours earlier and ended later, if I am correct you were pleased with the hours of lets say….6:00 pm – 4:30 am on Friday-Sunday? I am aware that Jeff called you today and explained that we were going over the budget with a fine tooth comb and you were not pleased with that response. Katiana suggested to Jeff that he send an email out to the entire community letting them know that this issue is on going and it is a priority. To my knowledge, that was not sent out. While I caution on adding expenses to the community budget, I do think that security is a priority especially since we are paying for it. As for the allegations you made into the officer leaving his post and coming back 90 minutes later; is extremely serious and I am aware that Jeff was calling the supervisor to have him check his log ins. We have not yet received a report. If these accusations prove to be true, I more than agree that we need to look into other security firms. Katiana has volunteered numerous times to be the liaison to your committee and yet no one has met. I am also willing to sit along side of Katiana and move this forward. As you have voiced your complaints in prior meetings that it takes a long time to get things done, I would have to agree that lately it seems that it takes a village…….It is very frustrating and I also feel that sometimes nothing is accomplished or it is tabled. Shall we meet?
